The Progressech-Ukraine company is involved in the Boeing 737 MAX flight recovery program
January 15, 2021
"The Boeing company will soon definitely leave the zone of high turbulence, which it entered after the grounding of the 737 MAX flights in March 2019. The program to return the newest generation of medium-haul Boeing aircraft to service is being successfully implemented, including with the participation of the Ukrainian engineering team," says Anton Kulchytskyi, director of Progressech-Ukraine, the largest service provider for Boeing in Eastern Europe.
He recalled that in December 2020, the 737 MAX made its first commercial flights after the lifting of the moratorium on its flights by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is expected that the process of returning the aircraft to service will be significantly accelerated in the near future. In addition, Boeing has already resumed deliveries of the plane and received its first major order for the 737 MAX after a 20-month hiatus.
The director of the engineering company Progressech-Ukraine detailed the Ukrainian contribution to the implementation of the 737 MAX flight restart program.
In particular, according to him, Progresstech-Ukraine supports Boeing in communication with operators on issues of maintenance and preparation for flights of previously purchased aircraft that have not taken to the sky for almost 2 years.
Engineers of the Ukrainian company also process and generalize the results of calculations on the strength of aircraft structural elements. This will help the Boeing service center to respond quickly and efficiently to the requests of airlines that are gradually returning their 737 MAX to the flight schedule.
In addition, Progresstech-Ukraine participates in the resupply of already assembled aircraft that have been stored by the manufacturer for a long time. The scope of work includes an engineering assessment of the technical condition of the 737 MAX fleet, preparation of reports and provision of data to FAA inspectors and customers, development of technical requirements for repeated testing of on-board systems. Also, if necessary, an order is formed for additional equipment and a set of spare parts for aircraft.
Anton Kulchytskyi highly appreciated the actions of aviation industry entities, which made it possible not only to restore the 737 MAX, but also to restore the reputation of aviation as the safest form of transport. In his opinion, during the last 20 months, a total examination of local errors in the operation of aircraft systems and general miscalculations in the supervision of flight safety was conducted. Reliability criteria have been increased, aircraft certification and aviation personnel attestation procedures have been modernized. Efforts have been made to bring the entire existing 737 MAX fleet into compliance with the new standards and requirements.
"Ultimately, the flagship of Boeing's medium-haul fleet has a real chance to return to service as the most reliable and safe aircraft in the history of civil aviation. This is the result of a large-scale team effort, consolidating the efforts of the entire industry, including the manufacturer and its partners, regulators and air carriers around the world , Anton Kulchytsky emphasized. And I am proud that the Progressech-Ukraine team is a member of this highly professional, motivated team international team".
